Questionnaire

I asked fifteen people five different questions in regards to how effective my mock-up's for my website are. These questions were:

  1. Do you think that the colour scheme of my website is appropriate for the Crime Thriller genre?

 2. Do you enjoy being part of online communities? (speaking to other people via forums, submitting user generated content, viewing fan sites.)

3.Is the narrative of the TV series made clear in the 'About' page of my draft?

4.Does the website layout look easy to use and navigate around based on my draft?

5.Are there any other features that you would like to see on my website?

Feedback that I received made it clear to me that rather than having such a small audience age range of 15-25, I could infact broaden this to people aged up to 35 years old. This being because I asked several people aged between 24 and 34 and their feedback was positive towards my proposal.

From my questionnaire, I have concluded that 60% of the people I asked enjoyed being part of online communities and interacting online by speaking to other people on forums, viewing fan sites and submitting user generated content like fan art and fan fictions online.

I asked what features that people would like to see on my website and the responses that I received included more colour, information on cast and crew, more detail of narrative, more genre appropriate and a use of more images throughout my website.

I don't think that the colour scheme of my product is something that I would change because I hope to have a textured background to give a crumpled paper effect.

An issue that I had when asking people to take my questionnaire was that they weren't willing to do so the majority of the time. I think that this is because they think that it will take a lot of time to do.

Overall, I will take the feedback that I received from my research and apply it to the final production of my website.

Self Evaluation Form

Minutes -I explained to Mrs Munn how I wanted to create an online media channel that will broadcast the series Elsewhere weekly.

-Because the target audience is so young, I aim to make the website interactive and appealing. I will do this by including a range of media production to prompt audience activity and involvement so that a community is formed.
-My idea is slightly different to the actual brief that I had been set. Because of this I needed to negotiate and explain my ideas to Mrs Munn to convince her that my idea was going to be more effective than if I had completely stuck to the brief.
-The reasoning behind my change in brief is that I have noticed a gap in the market.

Reflection I think that my idea to change the brief slightly was the best way forward to create the most effective product as I have thought carefully about applying relevant theories into my production such as David Gauntlett's Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 and also Jesse Schell's theory that people use media products as a form of escapism.

Conclusion The type of brief that was agreed on eventually was a formal brief. Mrs Munn and myself both agreed on my plan to make the most effective product possible.

Opportunities The opportunities that creating this project gives me include;
-I can add this work into my portfolio to show that I have a wide range of transferrable skills.
-The product could become so popular that it goes viral, therefore I would be getting self-promotion.

Skills
The skills that I would need to show for this piece of work would be time management, budgeting and also reasearch.
-The research element of the production would include using surveys and also focus groups to get instant feedback from the target demographic.
